Tim McAuley is an artist and seasoned commercial image maker based in Connecticut. He earned his BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in 2000 and has since spent over 20 years creating high-end CGI and 3D visual content for architecture, interiors, advertising, and luxury brands.
McAuley’s professional background includes running his own visualization studio out of Brooklyn, NY and leading creative teams in deadline driven environments. He currently directs an award winning group of 3D artists and creative technologists at a global advertising agency.
While his digital work emphasizes precision and polish, McAuley’s painting practice explores a different pace and purpose. His drawings and paintings develop through a physical momentum of mark making, a negotiation of intense observation, discovery, control and revision.
Recent works include domestic interiors, houseplants, portraiture and landscapes. Paintings that are grounded in observation and shaped by a search for presence and form.
